Spring 2021 Pilot Program Update

spring 2021 pilot program update

Thanks to a powerhouse team of educators and a stellar group of volunteers, we were able to curate 960 books for 150+ students. After a year of starts and stops, our Warner scholars stayed strong and their reading identities shone bright!

And thanks to all of them, Nashville Book Connection marked a new (and unexpected) chapter in its own story. We parked our mobile book carts for the year and figured out new ways to get each NBC book to the “right” reader.

NBC worked to ensure that connections to books and reading were not lost during this chaotic year. In doing that, we enriched and reimagined our program to be even more personal and more intentional. Through book talks, letter writing, read alouds and ongoing collaborations with teachers and students, NBC became even more of itself this year.

As we head into summer and make plans to take NBC to the next level, we want to thank our partnering educators for letting us work alongside you this year, our community bookstores for moving the literacy needle right there with us, and our amazing volunteers for writing 960+ letters to students. These partnerships enabled the NBC team to listen to student voice and to get books with windows and mirrors into the hands that needed them most.

We’re excited to finally be bringing those book carts to Warner Arts Magnet Elementary! We’ll be rolling them out in the Fall of 2021. We’d like you to be right there with us.
